Cornelius Delaney was born in Melbourne Australia. When he was 16 he attended "Fish Custard", an exhibition of surrealist and dada art .
This profoundly influenced his ideas about what an artist could do.
“In 1974 my parents attended a series of neighbourhood meetings to discuss the UFO sightings that were apparently becoming more frequent. I remember staring out my bedroom window at the stars in the night sky, kind of terrified about who was out there looking down on me, but also fascinated by the prospect of meeting them. My drawings from this time were filled with dinosaurs destroying villages and eating people. I think that worried my father.”
A passion for the absurd stayed with him and many years later he wrote a PhD document about the Carnivalesque.
Dr Delaney has been painting for almost 30 years and has exhibited all over the place.
He is currently somewhere in Europe.
